File Formats

Please use poly broadcast .WAV (.BWAV) files with all channels embedded. Constellation can handle up to 12 simultaneous audio channels.

Channel Layout

Mono mix-down on channel 1 is vital for the the Assistant Editor to be able to create sub-clips in Avid. Constellation will not move, rename or alter the sound files. Channel 2 onward can be laid out however you like.

DATA TIP
You can add, remove or confirm the list by sending your unit an email.

Metadata

Constellation will read in the scene and take information you provide and use it as a reference point. However, it takes the lead for the naming convention from you. If you use a particular style, it will follow you. If you wrote scene as 123a Constellation will use lowercase too. If you add number padding to the scene 000123A it will add three digit padding too. This will happen even on the shots it names autonomously. It will follow your lead because, statistically, audio mixers are right most of the time. Feel the power.

Take Numbering

Specific to the take entry is the preferred method of adding a padding to a single digit.
Like this; 01, 02, 03 through 09, 10, 11 and so on.

This is important because all computers sort alphanumerically and an unnecessary letter will get in the way of a smooth Post Production workflow.

LETTERS IN THE TAKE COLUMN
Please do not add letters in the take column and remove them if possible. Consult your manufacturers manual or support desk on how to do this.

Your Notes are actually read!

When you make notes into your mixer they are not just attached to the original sound file. Constellation will read them in, add them to the dailies, add them to the clip report and push them into the comments section on Avid or other editing software ensuring that everyone knows what you want them to know.

Make sure your notes are ready to be read by everyone or things can become… interesting.
